Godspell To Play Final Performance June 24

Broadway’s first-ever revival of the legendary rock musical GODSPELL will play its final performance at the Circle in the Square Theatre on Sunday, June 24, 2012.

GODSPELL began its Broadway run on October 13, 2011 and officially opened on November 7, 2011. At the time of its closing, it will have played 30 preview performances and 264 regular performances.

“I’ve never been more proud of a show than I am of GODSPELL,” said lead producer Ken Davenport. “For nine months this incredible company of performers brought joy into the hearts of more than 153,000 people (and blasted them with over 1,000 pounds of confetti) … forever changing their lives, and mine as well. And while this production of GODSPELL may not be at Circle in the Square past the 24th of June, it will be in our hearts and the hearts of everyone who saw it forever.”

Pay-Your-Age Night at Godspell

On Thursday, May 17, celebrate all the good gifts of Broadway’s hit revival of Stephen Schwartz‘s legendary rock musical GODSPELL with two exclusives!

First, GODSPELL is pleased to announce that for one performance only, audiences can take advantage of “Pay-Your-Age Night.”

Starting at 5 p.m. that day, a limited number of tickets will be available at the Circle in the Square Box Office (1633 Broadway at 50th St.). The ticket price: your age.

GODSPELL producer Ken Davenport said:

“Whenever I talk to fellow producers about the future of the theater, I hear one thing: ‘We need to get more young people to the theater!’  And whenever I talk to theatergoers, I hear, ‘Theater tickets are so expensive!’

“So, I thought, what if we could do something that could combat both issues at the same time?  And Pay-Your-Age Night was born.

“Broadway economics are such that it wouldn’t be feasible for us or any show to do this year round.  But, in order to encourage more young people to come to the theater, and in order to encourage more parents to bring their children to the theater, for one night, we certainly can.”

Customers must present a valid form of government or school ID to verify proof of age. One ID will be required for every Pay-Your-Age ticket purchased.

Also that evening, GODSPELL‘s new leading man, “High School Musical” and In the Heights star Corbin Bleu will stay for an intimate and exclusive post-show talkback and audience Q&A, hosted by Julie James of Sirius XM Radio’s “On Broadway” channel.
